Itinerario
- Departure from Cusco: We will begin our adventure with an early morning departure from Cusco, traveling through the breathtaking Andean landscapes toward the Sacred Valley. Along the way, we will enjoy spectacular mountain scenery, traditional villages, and panoramic views of the valley.
- Pisac Archaeological Complex: Our first destination will be the impressive archaeological complex of Pisac, located high above the valley. This ancient Inca settlement is renowned for its extensive agricultural terraces, ceremonial structures, temples, and sophisticated stonework.
- As we explore the site, we will discover how the Incas adapted the mountainous terrain for agriculture and developed advanced systems to manage water and cultivate different crops. The panoramic views of the surrounding valley make this stop particularly memorable.
- Pisac Traditional Market: We will continue to the traditional town of Pisac, famous for its colorful artisan market. Here, visitors can explore stalls displaying handmade textiles, traditional clothing, ceramics, jewelry, and souvenirs crafted by local artisans.
- This is also an excellent opportunity to appreciate the cultural identity of the region and discover the artistic traditions that have been preserved through generations.
- Urubamba – Heart of the Sacred Valley: Our journey will take us to Urubamba, one of the main towns of the Sacred Valley. Surrounded by impressive mountains and fertile agricultural lands, this area has long been recognized for its favorable climate and productive soils.
- We will have time to enjoy the surroundings and, depending on the service arrangement, take a break for lunch at a local restaurant, where visitors can experience traditional Andean cuisine.
- Moray Archaeological Complex: We will then visit Moray, one of the most fascinating examples of Inca agricultural innovation. This archaeological site is distinguished by its enormous circular terraces built into natural depressions in the landscape.
- These terraces created different microclimates at varying levels, allowing the Incas to experiment with crops and develop sophisticated agricultural techniques. Moray offers a remarkable insight into the scientific knowledge and resourcefulness of this ancient civilization.
- Maras Salt Mines – Salineras: Our next stop will be the spectacular salt mines of Maras, a collection of thousands of small evaporation pools built along the slopes of a mountain.
- Fed by a natural saltwater spring, these pools have been used for salt production since pre-Hispanic times. As the water evaporates under the Andean sun, salt crystals form and are carefully harvested by local families using traditional techniques.
- The contrast between the white salt pools and the surrounding mountains creates one of the most distinctive landscapes in the Sacred Valley.
- Ollantaytambo Archaeological Complex: We will conclude our archaeological journey in Ollantaytambo, one of the most extraordinary Inca settlements in the region. Known for its impressive agricultural terraces, monumental stone structures, and strategic location, this complex played an important role during the Inca Empire.
- As we explore its ancient pathways and ceremonial areas, we will discover the remarkable construction techniques used by the Incas. The Temple of the Sun, its enormous stone blocks, and the surrounding mountain landscape reveal the importance of this site as both a ceremonial and strategic center.
- The town itself is particularly special because it preserves its original Inca urban layout, with narrow cobblestone streets, traditional water channels, and houses built upon ancient foundations.
- Return to Cusco: After a full day discovering the historical, cultural, and natural treasures of the Sacred Valley, we will begin our return journey to Cusco, arriving in the city in the late afternoon or evening.
